Boots, Brew, and Camping

Boots and Brew in Downtown
We tried some Primitive Car Camping in the Davy Crockett National Forest, just west of Alto, Texas and the Caddo Indian Mounds along the west bank of Neches River by the 4C (Four Cs (former Central Coal and Coke Company, old rail beds) 20-mile-long hiking trail to Radcliff Lake.

We stopped at Pond Camp where nice 3 hunting camps were setup for bow and primitive hunting season that started Saturday.  We could hear the loud muzzleloaders going off that next morning from our campsite.

Click the link to find the camp sites and trail for 4C Trail maps.
Bud can still rough it with the best of them.
Thirteen and eleven year old retriever dogs love to camp and explore the woods.
Now the blind one (13 yr old, Bud, left) wears a lighted beacon on his collar for us to find him and everyone can see him.
Found a perfect location for the hammock between two southern yellow pine trees, built a campfire that burned all night, saw so many stars that I had difficulty finding constellations that I recognized.  But definitely saw the center of the Milky Way Galaxy.
Home pillows make roughing it so much easier.
All before heading to the downtown, Boots and Brew Festival, with Saint Arnold's giving out Texas size samples of their 20th Anniversary, Amber, Lawnmower, and Oktoberfest.
Sponsors, The Liberty Bell Bar

Saint Arnold's giving the right Texas sample size to their patrons, loved the 20th Anniversary, Barley Wine, yum!  Loved the standing tables around the square too.
Green outdoor room for the Dirty River Boys
Nino Cooper, Marco Gutierrez, Travis Stearns, Colton James
Brookshire Brothers, pretzel croissant, and multi grain croissant
with applewood gouda, and spice habrena cheese
Saint Arnold's the best beer at the festival

Loved the back of the Banjo of the Dirty River Boys
Sierra Nevada Beer (one of our favorite) needs some improvement with their server.  Less than mouthwash size sample.  She was dishing out small portions until the end.
