NOAA Chart- for Galveston Causeway Bridge and Offatts Bayou |
Tried Memory-Map (which I used on another laptop), but got an error saying, "could not load on system 32." Loaded up Map-tech Chart Navigator 5.08--worked great-- prefer some of the features better than Memory-Map. Loaded all the RNC for TX (some dated 11-10, dated on bottom left of map), but I plan to update the newest charts before we go cruising again. It took me a while to remember where everything was located (since last April). Hopefully this will be a go to site to find the links.
Online Chart viewer, location to download the .bsb files, by each individual NOAA Chart number (113xx). Once downloaded, add unzip chart to proper folder and load chart through Chart list, and can be used offline.
To download by state or other large groups, then go to link: Coast Guard Districts, State, or Regions (8 for Gulf, 7 for Florida and southern Atlantic)
Location for the Free NOAA map software, I use the Maptech Raster Chart Software.
Good online resources:- Notice to Mariners, NOM: District 8 (includes TX), emailed updates

Celestial Navigation
Presently I am using my ipad as a sextant through AstroNavLite. But I still have to identify the stars to shoot. The following sites as well as SFASU star charts have been very helpful.
