For Our Shortest Cruise We Had a Ball

We disconnected from shore power, pulled away from our slip, and motored over to the adjacent marina, Lakewood Yacht Club for TMCA's Commodore Ball, where we stayed for the night at their transient slips.  What a blessing it was to be only a few feet to the party.  We (got gussied up) dressed in the bathhouse by the pool with JT in his tuxedo and me in my glamor dress which had not been worn since 2003 (I couldn't believe that it still fits).  Kept the dogs at a distance since we did not want dog hair accessories.

Cocktail hour: We purchased tickets for drinks, 5 for the house wines (premium wine was Robert Mondavi, ha!) & 8 for premium liquors "because that is how they do it at Lakewood."  We hardly recognized many of the people since everyone was so dressed up.  The Yacht Club was decked out for Christmas, very beautiful with all the Christmas trees.

Dinner: After the spinach salad with a bacon dressing, we both had the grilled snapper with green beans (perfect), scalloped potatoes (needs improving), and dinner rolls (needed more).  The snapper was delicious and so big that I could not finish it.  For the finale, we had coffee (ordered decaf- wonder if it really was) and key lime pie (good, very sweet, and did not finish).  The band, Andy and the Dreamsicles, was ready to play just after the Commodores speech and the awards were handed out.  We got a special solo performance by Andy Upchurch on his big horn.  Oh lord...

Dance: Once the band began to play, everyone began to dance from Cotton-Eyed Joe to the Conga Line.  Every one let loose and danced until Midnight.  I loved the steel drums (who plays in Hannah's Reef).  We left about 11:30 to change out of our fancy clothes and back into our boat clothes.  We continued the party on the neighboring boat, Soiree, until 1 am when we walked the 20 feet back to our boat and passed out.
